Kitwe have completed the refurbishment/part new build of a cottage near to Oswestry.  The 19th Century Cottage was purchased by our Client over 2 years ago and  their plan was to demolish the existing building leaving just the front façade and re-build and extend it using modern methods of construction and making the finished cottage as ‘eco friendly’ as environmentally possible, with resources such as ground source heat pumps and Photovoltaics solar panels.  Kitwe have completed their home while exceeding the expectations of their client.

Happy New Year.

Kitwe has started the New Year on a positive note!  we are expanding our head office – adding a further floor to our current office space in ‘The Don’.  This will give us a dedicated ‘Meeting Room’ and ‘Archive Office’.  Refurbishment works are underway and will be completed by February 2013.  We are also updating  our current IT systems by upgrading our ‘Servers’.  This will be in place in time to cope with the forthcoming increased workloads and enable faster connectivity when accessing our files/emails remotely.

Works have started on another ‘Supported Living’ project .  This 339m2 Bungalow is our 5th project for First Choice Housing Association.  This current project is in Loughor, Nr Swansea inSouth Wales and aims to complete by Summer 2013

Supported living is a concept that was developed as an alternative to institutional care for people with learning disabilities and brought into theUKin the 1990’s. The main principles of supported living are that people with learning disabilities own or rent their home and have control over the support they get, who they live with (if anyone) and how they live their lives. Supported living assumes that all people with learning disabilities, regardless of the level or type of disability, are able to make choices about how to live their lives even if the person does not make choices in conventional ways. Kitweare extremely proud to have delivered 6 of these homes during the past 3 years, effectively changing the lives of the individuals who live there.

We are currently placing orders with our preferred contractors to start another ‘supported living’ scheme in Denbigh,North Wales.  This project is a ‘refurbishment’ development, effectively adapting a previously private home into a home that will allow its tenants to live as independently as possible within an established community.  We completed a similar project in December 2012 inKinmelBay, Conwy.

A new line of work was sent our way in December 2012.  We were recommended by one of our consultants to a client of his who were looking for a reputable builder to take over a project that they had started over 2 years ago.  They had bought a 19th century cottage in Llawnt, a small hamlet on the outskirts of Oswestry.  Their plan was to demolish the existing building leaving just the front façade and re-build and extend it using modern methods of construction and making the finished cottage as ‘eco friendly’ as environmentally possible, with resources such as ground source heat pumps and Photovoltaics solar panels.

All in all it is an extremely healthy start to the New Year and we hope it continues with some exciting schemes and opportunities in the pipe line.

Kitwe have just completed a  project in Crowmere Road, Shrewsbury for First Choice Housing Association.  This is our fourth project for First Choice, building large specially adapted ‘Assisted Living’ bungalows.  Adrian Johnson (Provider Services Manager for Shropshire Council) describes it as “Our best Project Yet” and in an email to First Choice Housing Association, Adrian had this to say about Kitwe “I have been involved as you know with many supported housing schemes and this one is well up at the top. Once again you and Kitwe have shown yourselves to be a high quality partnership”

You can’t get better than that! Kitwe strives to complete all of our projects to the highest quality, within budget and on time.

Kitwe has once again been awarded a ‘Commended Award’ from Oswestry’s Civic Society for their Swan Lane Development.  This is the 5th Award in as many consecutive years from the Society and signifies the quality of all Kitwe’s developments.  The Directors from Kitwe were invited by the Society to the Award ceremony last night (8th Oct 2012) to be awarded with their certificate.  Ken Dalton was the guest speaker at the award ceremony and regaled the audience with his experience within the construction industry and the problems facing developers in the current economic climate.  Saffron Rainey (chairman of the Civic Society) commended Kitwe on their developments and the contribution they have made to the town centre.
