Our Approach

G C Construction’s approach to all aspects of our business resolves around ‘teamwork’ and working closely with all parties.  We believe in developing relationships and bringing on board all parties as early as possible.

Planning and Conservation Officers

G C Construction develops excellent relationships with the planning officers and conservation officers on all our projects.  We believe it is critical to the success of a project that we work with the planners to establish acceptable schemes rather than trying to force our schemes on them.  The planning departments we work with have all been complementary about G C Construction’s professionalism and non-confrontational approach to proposed schemes.

We also believe it is essential that conservation and ecological matters are fully thought through and agreed with the Conservation Officers.  Once again we have been highly commended by local authority officers for our attitude and approach to conservation.

Building Control

We work closely with  ‘Meridian Consult’ to achieve Building Control Approval on our projects.

We believe involving Building Control at the initial stages is a great benefit in the design and construction of the project and avoids being confrontational over these issues during the construction process.

New Home Warranty Providers

We are registered with new home warranty providers on our schemes, as with the Building Control Officers we work closely with their technical audit team to ensure all their requirements are taken into account at the design stage rather than have to make changes to the design at construction stage.  We have had several of our schemes recommended for awards and our scheme at Meadow Barns (9 barn conversions) was awarded their ‘Small Development of the Year’ award in 2011.

Principal Designer Role

When we act as the ‘Client’ for CDM purposes we appoint the Health & Safety Consultants to perform the Principal Designer role.  If we are ‘Principal Contractors’ only, we liaise with the client’s Principal Designer at the earliest opportunity to analyse their input to date.

Ecologists

We work closely with Ecologists for surveys at the planning stages and always include their recommendations in our schemes.

Drainage Engineers (SUD Designs)

With the input required now at planning stage for SUD designs and attenuation of surface water we employ qualified SUD Drainage Engineers at the planning stage to provide initial Flood Risk Statements and Surface Water Management Plans.
